media violence

You know? Back in the fifties violence in the media was merely hitting someone who was being ridiculous over the head with a board, and now in movies people are brutally murdered and I think in some movies you can see it all. I have heard about the SAW movies and think, man! that is something sad when people are entertained by the suffering of other people. I can't imagine enjoying watching someone saw off their own leg to get past a bad guy? I mean to me that is somewhat sick. In the book it talks about how violence in movies has a contribution to violent behavior but not a triggering one. And this I agree with, I mean it is somehting that I feel has to stew for a long time, but people that watch these types of terror movies are the one that get closer to the idea that these types of things are ok. When in reality they are fooling themselves into believing something that obviously isn't true! Media has allowed itself to succome to the carnal parts of us humans and attack what where we have weaknesses, smart people. I mean those kids that committed the Columbine shooting forever ago even said that they would sit in their dark rooms and watch horror films and listen to dark music, it's what they felt and where they wanted their lives to lead. Heath Ledger watched horror movies and read scary books, he began not sleeping and this is what caused him to OD. Weird society.
