So that test was tough! but I really enjoyed taking it.... if that really makes any sense? I don't know for some reason it was good to really be able to express what I know. I am not going to lie I like this form of testing much ebtter then a bubble test or whatever you call 'em.

Anyway this is what I have been thinking about lately with PR. I find this portion of the media fascinating! I had never really thought about going into PR but it sounds cool! It made me think that the PR people of a company are like the police officers that guard it from things coming in and the things that also go out. They do have a tough job though, I mean guarding a whole company? Soemthing came up today in my writing class about this too. We tlaked about press conferences and how that was a way for that company to decide what got out, they controlled these things. I liked this because it made me think about how much power people really have over their companies. Do they really have as much as we give them credit, or they give themselves?

I mean look at Tiger woods, yea he's in a bind. It eventually gets out. Sorry Tiger, immorality never really was popular;)

This is now my official mass media blog!

These are all the older posts:

This has been a week full of endeavors with this class... Ending up sick Monday didn't help! But I purchased an I-touch this weekend and now feel a little more "in-touch" with this class.. Seeing as now I am a tech savvy girl! But this morning I think that the most interesting thoughts came... I really find it fascinating that newspapers have been able to last this long... I was a newspaper... girl:) in my early years but never really took any thought to newspapers.. Truthfully, I have probably only picked two up my entire life! (Okay, five maybe, but that's pushing it...) It just makes me think about the possibilities of it maybe continuing to last.. But then again it really has no purpose now, if posted on the internet it is much more convenient.. For everyone, except for perhaps the people who purchased the equipment? I don't know..

Also I liked the idea of melding. I LOVE it. I love that at the touch of a button, or keys.. I have every type of educational equipment, entertainment, music... etc. Very valuable, yet scary!

I have decided that I find this class fascinating! I have never really stopped to think about all the different kinds of communication wehave that are out there! And I have never really been a technology junkie by any means... But the stuff that they are coming up with just blows my mind! I mean, 3D tv? WOW! This makes me want to push to be better with technology and such... And maybe finally get up to date and get an I-pod! ha ha okay maybe not that far...

But the thing have been thinking about the most, having read chapter one.. Is how it talked about slavery and how mass media in a sense found a way to solve that... It then perceeded to talk about how someday a solution will be found when it comes to abortion, stem cell research. I have been wondering, will it really be puoshed that way? Will we really, through media sources, and better communication be able to come up with an exact, THIS IS A SOLUTION? I am curious. This is only because my opinions on both these subjects are SO solidified, it will not change. So unless everyone conforms to my way of thinking, which wont happen, we wont be able to reach a solid solution. And my other question is, HOW will media do this? what does MASS media do in terms of solving something huge like this?

hmm.

food for thought.

disintermediation - falling apart of the of the media's role as medium(the middle man of a messages: from messenger to the media, from media to the receiver). Example: youtube - receivers can now be senders themselves.
Complications - difficulty and complexity in studying human beings and isolating their interaction with media. (hard to track the different ways in which people use the media.
Question for thought: "Are media a mirror of society, or a window into society?"
Same media different views:
- W.F. Deedes - "Television has within its power to decide what kind of people we become -- nothing less."
Connecting message to behavior:
- Basic model of human communication:
Sender -- receiver (sender and receiver in an environment where they are communication simultaneously where traffic of "noise" can interfere. (noise - any form of interference)

Notes from class...

I think that the most interesting thing is that the sender and receiver give information... and traffic noise? difficult time understanding some of this material....?

I found today's discussion to be very interesting. I never really think about gaming and it's effects and maybe that is because I am not really into these types of things, such as world of warcraft... and things like that. But I think the hard thing we have to remember is that we are not above the media. There is so much more around us then just gaming, like TV. We all let it corrupt our lives in some way or another. I highly doubt that there is one person out there that can hoestly say they have not been influenced badly in some way or antother because of the media.

I also found the talk of batman interesting.

I admit, I liked the movie. This is an interesting form of mass media. Does this mean that you can take some good from something and leave the bad? Or is that little portion of goodness in the media... even good? Now I am notsaying I am going to throw batman away by any means. But this does make me look at my media consumption a little cloer. And the time I spend head over heels in these types of things.

I don't really want a relationship with a computer someday, I personally find men more attractive... ha ha ha
